Allods beta-key fail

I got an email a few days ago saying I had been accepted into the Allods beta:

I have to admit, I was a little interested after reading this post from Tesh and seeing this video from Chappo. So I logged into the site and attached the beta key to my login:

Now all that was left was to download the game and play..

3 hours later, install game...

Login..

Fail!

I'm not really sure why, but it doesn't let me log in using the account I signed up for. It's not the login or password, because I can log into the Allods website with them. I tried creating a new account and attaching the beta key to that, but it just says the beta key is already in use (obviously). Anyone else having the same problem?

I'm happy to put this down to user error if someone tells me what I did wrong, but I swear I took the logical path?!?...

I got a free key from Heartless and I've been having the same issue. After getting 2 keys I have decided that Allod is a fail for me.

That's screwy. I'll poke the community manager lady that contacted me about the game and see what she knows about it. She also has some keys she offered to me for dispensation, so if nothing else, I'll see about that.

I'm really curious as to why there are keys that don't work, though. You got yours straight from the gPotato site, right? I did, too, and it worked on the earlier beta. Weird.

@Oakstout
Yeah I don't get it. I haven't tried with a second key yet, so I can't confirm if it was a dodgy beta-key or something. I'll take a look through the forums today and see if anything turns up.

@Tesh
Yeah, I got it directly from gPotato. I might take you up on that spare key offer, if you still have one lying around. My email is:
starfire.crimson@gmail.com

Cheers heaps for your help.

Hey, it's the manager lady Tesh was talking about! Currently there is a known issue that if you recently changed your password, the database will not recognize it. If this is the case, try using a previous password. You may also create a new account specifically for the purpose of the beta, and if so, I will provide you with a key!

Hi Kat, thanks for stopping by. I've seen you comment on a couple of blogs now, and I have to say that I'm impressed by your devotion to the blogging community. Your efforts will go a long way, so please keep it up.

As for the beta-key failing issue, I don't remember changing my password. I do remember it taking me a few goes to create the account though, and it's possible I used a different password on the final go. I think at this point it might be best to create a new account and just add a fresh beta key to it. Could you please send one through to:
starfire.crimson@gmail.com

I appreciate your help, and look forward to finally playing Allods Online (if I get there).

Nice, Kat beat me to it. :) It figures, though, I wrote up a monstrous email with questions about the game, and *forshame* forgot to ask about your beta key issue, CS. Sorry!

I tell ya, it's been a nutty week. At least there's a potential solution. Here's hoping it works... but y'know, this is what betas are for, in a way. It's best to iron this sort of thing out NOW rather than once the game goes live. It stinks to be on the wrong side of a bug, but at least that makes the bug known.

(Says the guy who finds bugs at work, often because they prevent him from actually doing his JOB. If you think it's frustrating not being able to play, try not being able to do your job because someone else booched, and then catching heat for not getting things done. Bleh.)

I am having the exact same problem with League of Legends.

Step 1) Create account
Step 2) Attempt login
Step 3) Attempt to recover password
Step 4) "Unknown error"

Seriously, if you can't get this stuff right then the entire game you made is wasted time. It's like making a house with no doors or windows.

I actually still haven't managed to get into this beta myself. I asked the community manager Kat for another beta-key to try, but never received one. I'm pretty sure that creating a new account with a new beta-key is the only way to get in. All I can recommend is that you try and get your hands on another beta-key and try again with a new account.
