Ad karma

Sounds like somebody should design a browser ad-blocker that downloads the ads but does not display them to the user. That way, everyone (that matters) would win.

This is the best idea I've heard all day.

Wouldn't that just leave the gates open for hackers, though? Blocking ads isn't always just about ignoring the stupid static.

I think internet ads as a concept are just fine, and I wouldn't want to punish people for trying to advertise.

HOWEVER...there are certain ads that should DIE! Like Evony, Classmates.com, and that one weight loss tip.

I very much want to support some of my favorite websites by viewing (and possibly clicking on) ads they display for revenue. Unfortunately, the sites don't often have any control over what ads are displayed and, even when they do, malware "authors" continue to find new and creative ways to attack your computer through these ad services.

Until I find a more secure way to deal with such attacks, ad blocking is the best defense I have.
